Kinesthetics of dancing vs. cyclical movements

چکیده
In this work, we analyzed and compared two patterns of movement according to a rhythmic signal (dancing vs. cyclical rhythmic movements) to create a more natural virtual dancing partner with haptic feedback. We observed linear movements to reduce the analysis complexity and highlight the critical factors that can be generalized to unconstrained movements. Results indicate that dancing movements are performed at lower frequency of oscillation than the provided signal. However, synchronization errors are lower during dancing, indicating that dance is a more natural and easy way to perform the task. Finally, the amount of jerk is higher while dancing, indicating that dance movements are not inherently smoother, but are instead more complex than cyclical ones.

Changes to Saccade Behaviors in Parkinson’s Disease Following Dancing and Observation of Dancing
BACKGROUND The traditional view of Parkinson's disease (PD) as a motor disorder only treated by dopaminergic medications is now shifting to include non-pharmacologic interventions. We have noticed that patients with PD obtain an immediate, short-lasting benefit to mobility by the end of a dance class, suggesting some mechanism by which dancing reduces bradykinetic symptoms. We have also found t...

Generally, some booms in housing prices are followed by busts. One common phenomenon relating these changes is that the house price cycle is generally believed to the product of the short-run deviations from the long-run upward trends. The long-term cyclical fluctuation in Iran’s housing market was periodically occurred about every 6 years. Furthermore, Movements in house prices have significant...
متن کاملOn Fitts’s and Hooke’s harmonic movement in aiming laws: Simple upper-limb cyclical
Can discrete, single-shot movements and continuous, cyclical movements be reduced to a single concept? In the classical, computational approach to human motor behaviour, cyclical aimed movement has general19 been considered to derive from discrete primitives through a concatenation mechanism. Much importance, accordingly, has been attached to discrete-movement paradigms and to techniques allowi...
متن کاملWhen I Dance My Walk: A Phenomenological Analysis of Habitual Movement in Dance Practices
In this article, I describe the experience of dancing-a-walk. My specific focus is on the shift that I perceive in my body when I dance-a-walk rather than functionally walking. Following a firstperson perspective, I demonstrate how my experience of practicing dancing-a-walk interrogates the habit of walking and makes it come alive again as an expression of the body. First, I show how the practi...
متن کاملA Control System for a Flexible Spine Belly-Dancing Humanoid
Recently, there has been a lot of interest in building anthropomorphic robots. Research on humanoid robotics has focused on the control of manipulators and walking machines. The contributions of the torso towards ordinary movements (such as walking, dancing, attracting mates, and maintaining balance) have been neglected by almost all humanoid robotic researchers. We believe that the next genera...
